The League Championship Race was the first race of the season for Ronnie White. Since he had a late start, he just got cleared as he got his 10th practice in the day before. Although he was a bit apprehensive prior to the race in how to prepare and implement a race plan, once the gun went off he did what comes naturally! He ran. Ronnie started off the first couple hundred meters in the top quartile of the field and moved up to challenge for the lead by the mile mark. With a half mile to go, two of his teammates overtook him, but rather than give up, he surged back into the lead. Somehow he found the will power to do so and held onto the lead until the very end. His time of 17:54.7 earned him 2nd place on the team and in the race.
The League Championship Race was the first race of the season for Kaylee Timmons. Since she had an injury early in the season, she just got cleared a week before to start jogging again. Although we were uncertain whether or not she was ready to race, once the gun went off she did what comes naturally! She competed with focus. Kaylee started off the first couple hundred meters in the top quartile of the field and did a great job of drafting off of her teammates. We were very impressed with how well she hung on considering how little training she was able to do over the past six weeks. Somehow she found the will power to finish 7th of the 26 runners. Her time of 23:42.5 earned her 2nd place on the team and an alternate spot for District.
