Troy Prince-Butterfield

"I Finished the Race this Time...

Bailey Duncan

with both of MY shoes on my feet!" In Troy's first XC race of his life, that was not the case. At the Ultimook Race, the mud pit played Hide-n-Seek with one of his shoes, and won. After several futile minutes of searching, Jonathan Snapp tossed him one of his, so he could continue on and finish the race, but too far behind to make the top ten. Rather than complain, on Thursday, in just his second XC race of his life, he more than made up for that incident by placing 2nd of 68 runners. Troy has been a huge pleasant surprise on the team this year, as he has shown he has the potential to become the most versatile Panther runner ever. By the way, a crew of Panther MS XC girls did a clean sweep of the mud pit last week to locate his missing shoe.

Hannah Lintala

Hannah 0.99!

Hannah Lintala

More Precisely, Hannah 0.994. About six months ago, Hannah Lintala did not know much about distance running. She did not even consider herself to be an athlete. Things have changed. During the Spring, we had three Hannahs on the Track Team, and they were numerically identified. This Hannah started out at Hannah 3, with ambitions of someday equaling last year's team captain Hannah 1 (Wright). Her summer progression towards reaching that goal early this season was steady. Thursday she made it! Plus a little to spare. She ran 21:47.5, 8 seconds faster than Hannah Wright ran last year at this time, thus surpassing Hannah 1 by 6 tenths of a percent. So from here on out, she has earned the right to be Hannah 0.99!
