Our bus detour on our way to RA Long swung by Clark College to pick up a pair of our "Running Start" students. One of them was Senior Team Captain Noah Collins. We went out of our way to join the team for the race, and he went out of his way to run a great race. Running an 18:26, Captain Collins captured 4th place, beating his RA Long nemesis Ethan Johnson by 8 seconds. Noah commented that it was the first time that he kept passing people all the way through the race and also vowed to beat Ethan again by at least the same margin of victory.
The girls were the underdogs when it came to our Boys vs. Girls contest while racing at Longview. The pressure was on Junior Kalli Light as she had been the obvious key 5th runner lately. Kalli, with confidence, claimed she would run the race of her life... and she did! Her lifetime PR of 23:08 was some 2 1/2 minutes faster than last weeks race as she came through with flying colors (orange and black of course). She needed to run a PR for the girls to win, and she did by 5 seconds, which was the exact margin of victory over the Panther Boys in the contest.
