The 70's Doobie Brothers hit song had valuable implications towards Darian's success at Bush Park. After 1 1/2 years he finally loaded and used the "bus music". On the way, he told coach, "Hey, I just got done listening to the music for the very first time and I feel so good and ready to race!" And race he did, with a whole new level of energy and tenacity! His music empowered stride electrified him to 22nd place in 19:10, a 40 second P.R.. On the way home, he confessed to listening to "Today I am A Champion" 3 times! We are sure music will always be part of his race routine.
She doesn't say much in workouts, but her race at the Saxon Invite was a loud statement! Sophomore Megan Anderson said loud and clear that she is ready for Varsity. Her 1st race was very typical for a first timer, but her 2nd was run like a veteran, running completely even splits. Megan's time of 24:38.7 is nearly 4 minutes faster than her projected 5K time from last week. The coaching staff did not see this coming, as she quietly snuck up and pounced on her prey. Her time currently ranks her 15th in the 5 school league. The big question is "Where in the world were you last year?"
