On a day when Panther Seniors devoured the course, none were more impressive than Brendan Casey. Steadily improving from his slow start this year, he has moved up the ranks in the league from somewhere in the 20's to a respectable 11th place on Thursday. Due to the Hockinson Meadows course sharp turns and poor footing, it is significantly slower than the State Meet course. Therefore it brought a loud yell from Brendan when he got the official word that he broke his PR from last year's state meet performance. His new PR of 18:16.1 means he should run well under 18 at state.
On second thought, don't come back at all! It has been 6-7 weeks since Sydney has been able to race without any pain. Little injuries from mishaps away from the training grounds put a big pothole in her racing progress this year. But for her at our League meet, there was no pain. . . so she had great gain. Her warrior attitude propelled her to a 50 second PR (25:14) and earned her a spot on our ever improving Pink Panther District Meet team. Sydney has been patiently waiting all season to prove she deserves a Varsity slot. She is definitely ready to make a difference in Olympia on Saturday!
